🏛️ Government Affairs Update
The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has released draft regulations for anticoagulant rodenticides (ARs). These rules keep core legislative prohibitions in place but add tighter conditions and, importantly, new use sites for professionals, including restaurants (permanent food facilities) and grocery stores. These sites are subject to strict limits:
- 35 consecutive days max per application
- 105 days total per site per year
- Unconsumed bait must be collected at day 35
The draft also introduces:
- An annual Sustainable Rodent Management training course (DPR-approved) for all applicators and supervisors.
- A requirement to maintain a Sustainable Rodent Management Plan (SRMP) and site-level records for 2 years.
- A reaffirmation of prohibited sites (residential properties, schools, offices, parks, golf courses, etc.) unless exempted via public health emergency.
Submit Comments by November 8, 2025
DPR is seeking feedback on exempted sites, training implementation, and recordkeeping.
