In a recent collaboration, Newport Exterminating partnered with the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Orange County and industry leader Xcluder to address a significant mouse infestation in the home of veteran, Gary Hayakawa. This initiative not only resolved the immediate pest issue but also underscored Newport Exterminating's commitment to community service and sustainable pest management practices.

Upon identifying structural vulnerabilities that allowed rodent access, Niamh Quinn, UCCE's Human-Wildlife Interactions Advisor, recognized the need for specialized intervention. Xcluder generously donated exclusion materials, and Newport Exterminating, led by Pest Control Manager Dean Wiley, provided pro bono installation services to seal entry points effectively.

Dean Wiley emphasized the company's dedication to community involvement, stating, "Partnering with Niamh and UCCE allowed us to make a real difference for Gary while supporting sustainable pest management. It's also part of our mission to give back to the community, including supporting veterans. This project reflects our commitment to serving others."

Jose Cano, Service Manager at Newport Exterminating and a graduate of the West Coast Rodent Academy, played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the project. His expertise in rodent management was instrumental in ensuring the home's long-term protection against future infestations.
This collaboration highlights Newport Exterminating's proactive approach to community engagement and its dedication to implementing sustainable, non-chemical pest control solutions.

Gary Hayakawa expressed profound gratitude for the support he received, noting, "This experience reinforced my belief in the essential role UCCE plays in our community. Their proactive approach and ability to bring the right people together made all the difference. They were my first point of contact for this issue because I knew that they would be able to point me in the direction of the right resources. I knew my problem would get resolved, but I did not expect this level of generosity, and I am so grateful."
Through such initiatives, Newport Exterminating exemplifies the positive impact that pest management professionals can have on their communities, fostering partnerships that lead to effective, sustainable solutions.
