Thankful for Growth-Mindset Leaders

As we chart our course into the future, I’m reminded of a quote from John Maxwell. “Major barriers to successful planning are fear of change, ignorance, uncertainty about the future, and lack of imagination.” As an association, I’m proud to say that we have not allowed any of those to hold us back and we have worked hard in the last few months to bring about positive change. We have caught up on all Papco contributions and will continue to stay caught up. We have a plan to catch up on all district dues in the very near future. We are becoming more compliant with legal requirements by providing our accountant with ‘read only’ access to district bank accounts so that we can properly and legally account for all funds. (If you have not already provided this for your District, please do so as soon as possible.)

We have also realized that we need to be sure we are doing a phenomenal job on the basics. One of these is to ensure that when someone calls PCOC, they talk to a live human being more often than not. We are working out the logistics with this, but are already seeing improvements. This is something you should be able to count on, and we want you to know we are committed to making this happen.

We are also excited to explore new opportunities and options when it comes to increasing our membership. We recognize that an involved and growing membership is essential to our success. To that end, we would love to hear any ideas that you might have. You are the strength of this association. Working together, we are way more effective and successful than any of us can be working alone.

We also want to ensure we have an amazing turnout for Legislative Days and Expo. It is more important than ever that you come this year. If you are a District Chairperson, or Vice-Chairperson, please encourage every director from your District to come to both BOD’s. If you are a Committee Chairperson, please reach out to your committee members and motivate them to come also. If you are a director, please commit to coming. Let’s have the biggest and best turnout we’ve ever seen at our Legislative Days and our Expo. I also want to encourage each of you to be sure to thank the affiliates when you see them at these events. Our affiliates do SO MUCH to support our association. Please take the time to talk to them when you see them in their booths, learn more about the products and equipment they have, and promote and use them in your business.

Finally, we are not afraid to try new things. Bottom line is we want to ensure our association stays healthy and strong and impactful. Each of us is a big part of making sure that happens. “In the end, it’s not the size of the project that determines its acceptance, support, and success. It’s the size of the leader.”
- John Maxwell

You are that leader. This is the place. And your time is now. As we move into the future, we are looking to visionary leaders like you to help us ensure that we progress in a positive manner.

If you have Leadership ideas you’d like to share, or a topic you’d like to see explored in a future
PCOC Leadership Lens, I’d love to hear from you.

All the best!
