New Model Will Support Providers and Suppliers in Testing Innovative Ways to Improve Care for Beneficiaries with End-Stage Renal Disease

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a new initiative designed to identify, test, and evaluate new ways to improve care for Medicare beneficiaries with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).  Through the Comprehensive ESRD Care initiative, CMS will partner with health care providers and suppliers to test the effectiveness of a new payment and service delivery model in providing these beneficiaries with patient-centered, high-quality care.
 
HHS Announces 25 States Will Receive Funding to Test New Models of Care That Will Improve Health, Lower Costs

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced the first recipients of State Innovation Model awards made possible by the Affordable Care Act.  Nearly $300 million in awards will provide flexibility and support to states to help them deliver high-quality health care, lower costs, and improve their health system performance.
