Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE) is a dangerous complication of cirrhosis of the liver. Regardless of age, for those with cirrhosis experiencing HE, morbidity and mortality significantly increase. Case managers are on the front line of prevention education, care coordination and care transitions.

The Case Manager's Guide to Antimicrobial Stewardship

Wednesday, September 20, 1 p.m. Eastern

1 Hour CE: RN and CCM

Presenter: Rebecca Perez, MSN, RN, CCM, FCM

FREE for Members and Non-Members; Sponsored by Seres Therapeutics

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is increasingly common and is primarily due to the overuse and misuse of antibiotics. The only way to slow the resistance to antibiotics is to practice and reinforce antimicrobial stewardship (AMS).

As part of the multidisciplinary team, case managers can support AMS by educating patients on the dangers of overuse and misuse of antibiotics, facilitation, and coordination of needed diagnostics to determine if antibiotics are indicated, ensure patients understand their antibiotic prescription and are adherent with the treatment protocol, and collaborate with all members of the interdisciplinary team for optimal health outcomes.

And coming soon, the FREE digital download  Antimicrobial Resistance: A Case Manager's Guide to Antimicrobial Stewardship!

Mark your calendars: Our Integrated Case Management (ICM) Training, using the newly updated ICM Manual, will be held face-to-face via Zoom, October 31 – November 2. Registration is opening soon, so stay tuned! Want to be the first to learn more about the new ICM Program and Manual? Fill out this short interest form HERE.
