Special Announcement

CMSA is dedicated to recognizing case managers who have made a significant contribution to the professional practice of case management through leadership, innovation and scholarship with the newly launched CM Fellow program.

Case Management Fellows (FCM™) will represent a diverse community of accomplished thought leaders that take an active role in the identification of future trends and issues affecting case management and serve the public and the professional practice of case management by advancing the standards of practice through excellence. FCMs will be influential leaders of the case management community, ambassadors of the profession, visionary, strategic thinkers, mentors, authors, speakers, leaders and facilitators.

Earning the FCM™ designation indicates a high level of demonstrated proficiency in the professional practice of case management, showing a commitment to knowledge through continuing education and publication, and establishes Fellows as influencers to the growth of the profession.

"Becoming a CMSA Fellow is the greatest honor and privilege I can imagine in the world of case management,” says Jeanne Boling, CMSA Founding Fellow. “It means the world to me. There is recognition for all past service. In addition, the CMSA Fellow Program also incorporates a duty to case management, to case management professionals and those considering case management as a professional service to continue in leadership in appropriate ways using experience, knowledge and God-given gifts. What a wonderful path to seek and to realize for our future."

Applications are now begin accepted through January 14, 2022. The 2022 CM Fellow class will be announced during the 2022 CMSA Annual Conference, June 1-4 in Orlando, Florida.

Did you know the Case Management Adherence Guidelines (CMAGs) had a significant update released in the summer of 2020? If you were not aware, do not be upset. There was certainly a lot going on during that time. We were facing the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, and there was little else that seemed to matter. And if you were working, you were probably so overwhelmed with what was happening that you were not keeping up with anything else.

Because the healthcare field has undergone significant and challenging changes in recent years, the Case Management Adherence Guide 2020 was updated to assure the adherence guidelines contained better skills, techniques and procedures to help health professionals be able to assist their patients and families. The Guide provides improvements in comprehensive evidence-based assessments, care planning, care coordination, care transitions and intervention tools to help case managers (CMs) achieve better measurable outcomes, be more efficient and effective, be more valuable to their patients, clients and employers and prove case management’s clinical and financial worth.

Chapter Connection

On Nov. 15, 2021, New Jersey completed the process of implementing the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).

The NLC allows registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs), whose primary state of residence is in an NLC state, to hold one multistate license, with the authority to practice in person or via telehealth, in both their home state and other NLC states.

CMSA Chapters have upcoming end-of-the-year celebration events (in-person) and educational events you can access via Zoom. These can be excellent ways to earn CEs, but also opportunities to connect with your fellow case managers, network and reach out for support.

Has it been a while since you've connected with your local chapter? Visit the CMSA Find A Chapter page for website links and contact information. Perhaps it's time to volunteer your time and expertise by getting involved in chapter committees, programs, or public policy. Get connected and stay connected.
