Q: Have you attended the conference previously?
A: I attended years ago in Phoenix and also last year in New Orleans.

Q: What do you think about the Global Center for Health Innovation?
A: It’s awesome. I attended a conference there recently with Cleveland Clinic called the 2014 Patient Experience, Empathy Innovation Conference which was devoted to improving the patient experience, and had the opportunity to explore the wonderful technologies on display there. It was a wonderful experience.

Q: What did you think of today’s ribbon-cutting for the State-of-the-Art Patient Home?
A: It’s where we’re going in healthcare. The industry e is definitely shifting to more patient-centered care and it is where we need to be. I used to be a public health nurse, so I am very excited to see this shift, and to interact with innovative exhibitions such as this.

Q: What are you most excited for this week for the conference?
A: I am very excited about the educational programs and also to see the keynote speaker, Dakota Meyer. A few of my relatives and children are in the military, so I am very interested in hearing his presentation from a personal standpoint, as well as from the relevance to case management. I’m also happy to be here as an employee of Cleveland Clinic – it truly is an amazing facility and I am hoping that some of my colleagues will be able to stop by for some tours that we will be having throughout the week.

Q: Have you attended the conference previously?
A: I have attended the conference before years ago as a presenter with Cheri Lattimer. This is my first time experiencing the conference as an attendee.

Q: What do you think about the Global Center for Health Innovation?
A: It’s remarkable the level of care that can be provided to our patients with the innovations in this center. I am amazed by the technologies, such as a floor that tells a physician all sorts of information about a patient like when they get out of bed. This could transform the care for so many chronically ill patients who require constant supervision and care, as well as for many other patients.

Q: What did you think of today’s ribbon-cutting for the State-of-the-Art Patient Home?
A: I think the State-of-the-Art Patient Home shows us what could be possible for so many people and their access to healthcare. I began in healthcare and hospital social work, and through that experience I learned the potential for these programs to directly link quality care for patients. Case management is the same way, I think, in that they are the ones providing linkages to different levels of support for the patient. Now is the time for case management to come to the forefront, since it is so important in so many levels of healthcare.

Q: What are you most excited for this week for the conference?
A: I am very much looking forward to the sessions and hearing from so many passionate case managers and professionals about different programs and experiences in the healthcare continuum. I had a hard time choosing sessions when I looked at the full schedule. That’s what is so important and wonderful about the conference – the ability to network with so many healthcare professionals and discover what programs and initiatives they have instituted and what you can implement into your own practice.
