This web seminar offers attendees from the business and healthcare worlds a comprehensive overview of aging-in-place concepts relevant to adult children as they help decide residential living needs for aging relatives, and themselves. The preference to age in place is well-known, but the best way to modify a home to provide safe accommodations when dealing with the intricacies of aging in place is less known, so our web seminar will walk attendees through the steps to make a home safe and accommodate the needs of a burgeoning aging population.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:

  • Discuss a holistic definition of aging in place, emphasizing the importance of matching one’s physical needs to a residential environment;
  • Understand how controllable factors, such as staying healthy and financially secure, can allow people to live in the comfort of home when growing older;
  • Describe how natural aging challenges can affect people’s ability to live in a safe home environment; and,
  • Discuss the importance of completing a functional environment assessment, so that adult children, geriatric care managers and occupational therapists can evaluate the health conditions of aging loved ones and the safety of a home environment.

This webinar is designed for professional referral sources and family caregivers. One free CEU credit will be offered to all eligible attendees for attending this webinar.

Presenter:

Rein Tideiksaar, Ph.D., PA-C, is a gerontologist and a geriatric’s physician assistant. He is president of Fall Prevent, LLC in Blackwood NJ, a consulting company providing educational, legal and marketing services related to fall prevention for older adults.
