A new survey by the Associated General Contractors of America and data from construction technology firm Procore show that construction activity is returning to pre-coronavirus levels in many parts of the country and some firms are adding workers. The new economic data, however, also shows some future projects are being canceled and many others are being delayed by supply chain issues and labor shortages, underscoring the need for additional federal recovery measures, association officials noted.

Even as the COVID-19 pandemic has slowed construction across the country, firms continue to struggle to fill jobsites with skilled labor, and one of the largest pools of attractive candidates is former military staff.

As news of the coronavirus impact continues to unfold, this page will serve as a way to track projects or cities that have halted construction due to the pandemic.

As the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, construction industry employers confront many challenges. Every aspect of the industry has been affected not only by the virus itself, but by the economic and regulatory pressures imposed by government reactions to the crisis, to include federal, state and local. The ground rules going forward are conflicting and confusing, and more legal challenges lie ahead.

Worksite and worker safety impact every part of every construction operation. An organization’s approach to safety directly affects its reputation and culture, ability to recruit and retain workers, and relationships with customers and community. Safety has value.

The best way to describe our product solutions is to lay out the business case. All of the products used in this project are readily available in the US. Overview: DuPont was building a new corporate office in Mexico City, Mexico. Their goal was to create a unique and eye-catching environment that can effectively control the acoustics based upon the need of the individual spaces.

As the COVID-19 pandemic advances, safety professionals across the country have felt the effects. But are the various changes here to stay?

Every summer, the stats add up. From 1992 to 2017, heat killed 815 workers in the United States and injured some 66,000 more (according to BLS). Although a lot of focus is on workers toiling outdoors in the summer sun (construction, landscaping, etc.), those working indoors (warehouse, foundries, etc.) are also very much susceptible to heat stress.

In an HBRC Journal study, results showed that the average cost overrun from change orders was as much as 11% to 15% of the original contract value for many construction projects. This could quickly make the difference between a job being profitable and nonprofitable for a construction company. However, sometimes, a change order is required through no fault of your own company.
