Construction spending declined 0.8 percent in October from September but topped year-ago levels by 1.1 percent, as decreases in private nonresidential, multifamily and public projects outweighed a recent revival in single-family homebuilding, according to an analysis recently by the Associated General Contractors of America of new federal spending data. Association officials said that the impact of trade conflicts is harming private construction.
 
Fall Protection – General Requirements (1926.501) is OSHA’s most frequently cited standard for fiscal year 2019. This marks the ninth consecutive year it has stood atop the agency’s “Top 10” list.
 
An annual report on the cause of construction disputes illustrates that changes to a project's scope of work was the most frequent contributor to disagreements across the sectors it studied: buildings; defense, aerospace and military; industrial; infrastructure; oil and gas; and power and utilities.

OSHA requires crane operators engaged in construction activity to be certified by an entity accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency. CIC no longer holds such accreditation. To avoid industry confusion and potential disruptions of construction projects, OSHA has issued an enforcement policy for crane operator certifications issued by CIC.
