Noise is a serious issue. As outlined in a 2011 White Paper by lawyer Megan Short and Soundmask Australia senior product developer Andrew Pearson, excessive noise has been shown to produce physiological changes in patients, including lower oxygen saturation (increasing need for oxygen support therapy); higher blood pressure, heart and respiration rate; and compromised sleep. This leads to sleep loss, slower recovery times and greater likelihood of readmission. Noise also impacts privacy and doctor/patient confidentiality. A solution? Acoustics.

When considering interior design choices for office spaces, especially when dreaming up ways to attract and retain the newest generation of workers, the image that pops to mind is the high-tech warehouse look, in which an open plenum factors heavily. The space is left open to the deck, exposing joists and ductwork. It looks young and on-trend. The acoustical challenges aren't necessarily a consideration.

Construction companies face many potential sources of legal liability, from jobsite conditions to weather-related delays. Theft and worker safety are also recurring concerns, especially as the opioid addiction epidemic hits the industry particularly hard. Technology can help shield construction companies from litigation and liability. The same cameras that construction companies use to remotely monitor and document jobsite activity can also be used to provide protection against lawsuits.

Mobile recruiting benefits the entire workforce, from hiring managers to jobseekers, by streamlining the process for everyone involved. It allows candidates to apply on the go. This is great because jobseekers who find jobs via their mobile device but have to apply via desktop are much likelier to forget about the job. On the candidate side, mobile compatibility in recruiting creates a great first impression and makes it much easier for them to go through the application and provide quality answers like they would on a desktop.
