Southern California Fuel Trucking Firm Suspends Services Indefinitely

Evans Dedicated Systems, which billed itself as one of the oldest trucking
companies in the western U.S., has suspended all of its operations for hauling
gasoline, diesel, ethanol, transmix, oil additives and lubricants in Southern
California, Arizona and Nevada, according to the company's voicemail on
Wednesday.

Sources on the West Coast told OPIS that the company had suspended all services
to oil companies recently, and Evans was one of the larger players in the
Southern California trucking market. They also noted that there has been a
trend of trucking market consolidation in California, with larger national
trucking companies buying up the smaller ones. This consolidation trend makes
it even harder for smaller companies to survive.

It is unclear when or if Evans would restart its trucking operations.

The company's voicemail also said that there is no one in the office at this
time.

According to Evans' website, the 111-year-old company specialized in moving
fuel from refineries and terminals to retail service stations.

Evans' truck fleet traveled over 9 million miles and delivered over 120,000 a
year, it said.

Evans has six oil terminals within the highly competitive driver markets of Los
Angeles, Long Beach, the Inland Empire, San Diego and Phoenix/Yuma in Arizona,
the website said.

The website listed the six terminals: in Bloomington, Calif., Long Beach,
Calif., Gardena, Calif., San Diego, Calif., Phoenix, Ariz. and Yuma, Ariz.

Evans' corporate office is in Commerce, Calif.
