State fuel tax rates change July 1, 2016.  In advance of that change CIOMA is providing a "pdf" file that can be used to make signs for retail (and other) outlets, disclosing the new tax rates.

The state gasoline tax rate is decreasing from 30¢/gallon to 27.8¢/gallon.  The diesel tax is increasing, from 13¢/gallon to 16¢/gallon. All other taxes/fees remain the same as last year.

Click here for the "pdf" file.

We have included an estimate of the state Fuels Under the Cap costs that are being laid into gasoline and diesel fuels as a result of the state Cap & Trade program.  While not legally required, this is a cost that is commonly reported and displayed (weekly adjusted) on the CIOMA web site. Since it fluctuates, we are only providing an estimate to eliminate frequent change-out of signs.  We can provide a "pdf" file without this information, if that is desired.  Contact the CIOMA office for that request.

Marketers and retailers need to remember that there is NO ability to recoup the difference on fuels purchased at a higher tax rate, and then sold into a lower tax rate market (i.e. gasoline).
