Lending Support to Katcho's Run for Congress

CIOMA recently helped organize and participated in a fund raising event for Assemblyman Katcho Achadjian (R, San Luis Obispo) in his run for a House seat (District 24) in the US House of Representatives.  "Katcho" as he is known to his friends and supporters, owns and operates 3 retail service stations in the San Luis Obispo area.  As such he thoroughly understands the numerous issues petroleum marketers and retailers face in California.

Last year, Katcho received CIOMA’s Legislator of the Year Award in recognition of his efforts in securing a 10-year extension of the state’s Underground Storage Program. The measure required a two-thirds vote and Katcho was instrumental in securing the necessary Republican votes to gain the extension.  He has also been a constant, reliable vote against the many dumb ideas and complicated initiatives that annually rise from the California legislative "dream machine".

Beyond his recent experience with the Legislature, Katcho has served on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors and served as a Commissioner on the California Coastal Commission.  He is very active in local charitable efforts and has a rock-solid reputation in the area as a problem-solver who can reach across political lines to reach consensus.

Over 10 participants had lunch with Katcho and his lovely wife Araxie in Anaheim. Contributions came in from a variety of sources, most notably national PACs from NACS, SIGMA and PMAA.  CIOMPAC is prohibited from making contributions to national races.

We encourage all CIOMA members to get involved in helping Katcho win this open Congressional seat.  Although Katcho consistently polls very strongly, the opposition is reaching deep into Santa Barbara and Hollywood wealth in building a formidable campaign chest.
