Celebrating five years of CMP-HCC

CMP-HC, the events certification for professionals in the healthcare sector, is turning 5 this year! We checked in with Aleka Garcia, the CMP Commission chair and member of the CMP-HC task force to see how the program has evolved and where it is heading. Discover more about the program below, and don’t forget to attend her CMP-HC session at Conclave.

  1. Can you describe your position on the CMP-HC task force?

In 2017, the CMP Commission created the task force and it has been my pleasure to serve as the chair with my fellow commission members and CMP-HC community. Currently, I serve as a member of the task force.

  2. How does the CMP-HC program add value to the events industry?

The CMP-HC program provides professionals in the field of healthcare/life sciences meetings to validate their experience and knowledge.

  3. Where do you see the program heading in the next couple of years?

It is an exciting time for CMP-HC program. The Task Force recently went through a review of the exam to ensure alignment with the roles and responsibilities of those professionals in the healthcare/life sciences meetings industry.

  4. As a speaker for the 2018 CMP Conclave, what topics do you plan on covering for the CMP-HC sessions?

The session topics will correlate with the CMP-HC standards and the new glossary of terms to help CMP-HC candidates prepare for the exam. My hope is that participants will walk away with a study prep strategy as well as solutions to develop compliant meetings and tactics that will prove the value of a meeting professional as a compliance partner.

  5. Do you have any advice for events professionals interested in a CMP-HC designation?

Be brave, if you’re interested in this sub-specialty designation reach out to colleagues in the industry that have the designation. Contact the CIC and ask to be connected to a CMP-HC. The exam was created by healthcare/life sciences meeting professionals for you.
