Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

On April 6, 2017, leaders from across the meetings and events industry will come together to support the second annual Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID). GMID events will be held across the globe to demonstrate the measurable impact that meetings have on businesses, economies and communities.

As CMPs, your participation in Global Meetings Industry Day is crucial to spreading our industry’s value story. Together, we will ensure that the media, elected officials and the general public understand how meetings foster strong relationships, drive positive outcomes and support vibrant communities.

Hosting an event is also a great way to connect with other meetings professionals in your area and reflect on all the hard work done to advance our industry.

Five Steps to Get Involved:

  1. Register your event using the online form.
  2. Engage elected officials by inviting them to your event as a way to help them learn more about the meetings industry and showcase the value it brings to your local community.
  3. Ask your elected official for a proclamation, declaring GMID officially in your location on April 6
  4. Invite local media to attend and cover your events using the resources provided.
  5. Visit the newly refreshed GMID webpage. Utilize the many resources available on the GMID website, including FAQs, digital ads, event host checklist, talking points and sample social media, logos,  the template local press release and elected official invitation and proclamation mentioned above and more.

During the event don't forget to include #GMID17 in all your Tweets, Facebook posts and Instagrams and participate in the social conversation on April 6, sharing pictures and videos.
