Happy New Year From Your New Chair

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Dear Fellow CMPs,

Happy New Year! Yes, I was sound asleep by 10 p.m. that night. LOL! I sincerely enjoy the holidays and being Italian – it’s all about the food! To that theme, I believe that 2017 should be all about food and, while pasta feeds my soul, education feeds my mind.

The CMP Governance Commission is working diligently to ensure that your commitment to lifelong learning and your passion for excellence in our industry is recognized and valued. We continue to embrace and move forward with Vision 2020, which we began in 2016. Our pillars of Rigor, Relevance and Value echo the foundation of the CMP itself – the badge of excellence in the meeting, convention, exhibition and event industry.

I want to welcome the new CMPs and thank all of you who recertified this past year. Also, I encourage all of you who are up for recertification this year, me included, to do so. Remember that the CMP Conclave is a great way to network, enjoy relevant education and earn the necessary continuing education required for recertification. More information on the next Conclave will soon be available, and I look forward to seeing you all there, where you should feel free to call me out and make sure I am on track for the recertification process as I tend to procrastinate ... sometimes.

Also in 2017, the CMP program will look to increase our global presence. We continue to pursue growth of the CMP community both domestically and internationally through intensified marketing, development of study materials and expanded educational opportunities. Your voices are at the forefront of this initiative. By speaking out on the value of certification and the CMP program, you are not only the stakeholders but the ambassadors of the CMP.

In addition, we will form a new task force this year to fulfill our 2020 Vision, so please keep your eyes open for volunteer opportunities as they will be posted on our website and all our communication channels.

Have you checked out the CMP job board recently? Let us know what you think.

I sincerely look forward to working for you this year, and please do not hesitate to reach out should you have any questions or input regarding the CMP program. If I don’t have the answer, I’ll get it to the person who does.

Yours in Service,

Matt DiSalvo, CMP
