Want to get to know your board of directors a little better?

Meet President-Elect – Heather Brown (PRA Chicago)!

1.  How long have you been with MPI-CAC?
I have been a member of MPI-CAC since April of 2013 — eight+ challenging, inspiring and exciting years!

2.  What committees, if any, were you on before joining the board?
I was a committee member turned co-chair for both the Trivia Night Committee and the Annual Awards and Recognition Committee prior to joining the board. I also collaborated with the Holiday Party Committee and the Golf Committee during my time as VP of special events. When I served as VP of finance, I had the fortunate opportunity to work with the Partnership Development Committee (PDC), and I am currently honored to work with our new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee.

What is your role on the board?
President-elect

What is one goal for MPI-CAC you have in your position this year?
My biggest goal for this year is to learn the role of the president, inside and out, and to start prioritizing important initiatives for next year. Our members have been through a lot in the last year and a half, and we as a chapter will continue to adapt to their changing needs.

What do you like to do when you’re not working?
More than anything, I love spending time with my family and friends. Trips with my nieces and nephews, home renovations with my husband and time in my hometown of Galena are a few of my favorite things. I also love cooking, gardening, canning, running, reading and anything that is adventurous.

Volunteer/Join a Committee

The best way to get the most out of your MPI-CAC membership is by joining a committee. It’s a great way to network, utilize your skills or challenge yourself to try something new! We know everyone has busy schedules, but many of our committees have a variety of tasks that can be done in just one hour a month!

Committees are always looking for members with leadership skills, creative mindsets and the drive to collaborate with fellow industry professionals. Click here to see the full list of committees and to fill out the committee interest form.

Committee Spotlight – Education Content Committee

Vice President, Education – Sara Broderick (Wynn Resorts)

Director of Education Content – Dillin Ravenscraft (Ateema Media & Marketing)

Co-Chairs – Romanita Ross (Microsoft)

What is your committee responsible for?

The Educational Content Committee is primarily responsible for researching and selecting speakers and topics for each educational chapter event based on requested topics and speakers provided by the membership.

How often does your committee meet?

Our committee meets every first Monday of each month for one hour via Zoom.

What are some tasks people do for your committee?

Committee members have the tasks of connecting and networking with a wide range of speakers to see if they would be the best candidate to fulfil the meeting objectives and purpose of the chapter events. They also review and grade submissions resulting from the call for speaker proposals.

What makes your committee fun or stand out?

What makes our committee stand out is that we all have diverse backgrounds and have the ability to be accepting and transparent with all ideas and visions that come to mind while designing, organizing and sustaining a balanced program of events in compliance with MPI HQ.

Be sure to join us Sept. 22 at Viceroy Hotel Chicago to see the Education Content Committee’s hard work at Fall Education Day! Register here.
