Spotlight Award Winner – Romanita Ross, Microsoft (Education Content Committee)

“I got involved with MPI through the school that I attend – Ashworth College – where I was taking a certification course in event planning. I have been conducting professional corporate meetings for over 20 years, and I needed an organization to associate with to network and widen out with my skills. My most exciting memorable thing is when I was sponsored to attend WEC18. I met so many interesting and wonderful people that I attended great informative seminars and networked with. By meeting so many people such as suppliers and other planners and getting advice, this event helped me to plan my first large event of 700 people."

Editor’s Note: Formerly known as Engaged Member of the Month, the Spotlight Award honors committee members who have really been an all-star on their committee.

Volunteer/Join a Committee

The best way to get the most out of your MPI-CAC membership is by joining a committee. It’s a great way to network, utilize your skills or challenge yourself to try something new! We know everyone has busy schedules, but many of our committees have a variety of tasks that can be done in just one hour a month!

Committees are always looking for members with leadership skills, creative mindsets and the drive to collaborate with fellow industry professionals. Click here to see the full list of committees and to fill out the committee interest form.

Committee Spotlight – Educational Operations-Knowledge Share Events
Vice President, Education Operations – Colleen Morgan, CMP, Spencer Stuart
Director of Education Programs – Courtney Dubbin, CMP, LiveNation Entertainment
Co-Chairs – Amanda Reese, NHS Global Events; Kelsey Kottcamp, CMP, McDermott Will & Emery LLP; and Lindsay Plath, CMP, Illinois Association of School Business Officials

What is your committee responsible for?
Plan and oversee event operations for educational programs.

How often does your committee meet?
Since we rolled right into our first program we've been meeting just about every week.

What are some tasks people do for your committee?
Set up zoom platform, manage marketing content for the program that is being pushed out to members, work alongside content team to ensure event objectives are aligned, manage rehearsals with speakers and manage day-of logistics.

What makes your committee fun or stand out?
Our committee is very small so most of the work falls on the co-chairs. They are all extremely proactive and have done a phenomenal job at taking on all the work that is involved in hosting these educational events.
