Co-Chair, MPI-CAC Membership Committee

1. How long have you been with MPI-CAC?
Seven years, MPI overall 16 years.

2. What do you do in your Co-Chair role?
Work with our BOD member Katrina Whaley and Co-Chair Rick Hud to do the following:

o Lead monthly committee meeting
o Encourage committee members (and myself!) to engage with new member buddies and reach out to non-members who have registered to attend our events pre & post each event
o Build relationships with new members
o Brainstorm ideas with committee for virtual membership events
o Assist with voting process on grant applicants
o Recruit possible members whenever the opportunity arises
o Complete monthly BOD report for committee

3. What is your favorite part about volunteering with MPI-CAC?
Getting to know our volunteers, leaders, and members on a more personal basis! I would NEVER know the people in MPI CAC the way I have gotten to know them if I hadn’t made the choice to get involved. I am so grateful for those relationships!

4. What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I love gardening. I love watching birds (COVID-19 turned me into a bird NUT, and I love it!) I love reading a good fiction book, especially when there’s a dog curled up next to me. I love hanging out with my friends on a patio or deck with a nice beverage, and I love going to outdoor festivals, especially when there’s music involved. I love planning a date with my husband and checking out a place we’ve never been to, or just eating thai food with my daughter. On a large scale, I LOVE going to Universal Studios and spending time in my happy place: Hogwarts!

5. What advice would you give to someone considering taking a volunteer position with MPI-CAC?DO IT! Don’t let the “I’m too busy” thought hold you back. EVERYONE is busy!  You will get SO much more out of it than you put into it; I promise!

1. How long have you been with MPI-CAC?
Twenty-eight years.

2. What do you do in your Co-Chair role?
o Work alongside my co-chair Loretta to engage our “committee   members” to work our “New Member/Buddy Lists” & New Member     Mixers
o Contact all new and present members who are interested in joining an MPI-CAC committee and guiding them through the process by making the appropriate connections
o Orchestrate membership committee tables at all of the local MPI-CAC events
o Stay vigilant as a committee to look for new members while maintaining our current membership

3. What is your favorite part about volunteering with MPI-CAC?
The opportunity to work alongside passionate members to create successful events, meeting new people in our industry that I do not already know, and working alongside our younger generation of industry leaders.

4. What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Travel with my wife—anywhere. See my grandkids as often as possible, and golf whenever I can make the time.

5. What advice would you give to someone considering taking a volunteer position with MPI-CAC?
Give it a chance, give it your all, keep yourself open to learning and contributing, and most of all, know that  you will get out of your MPI-CAC volunteerism what you put into it.
