Board Spotlight

Want to get to know your board of directors a little better?

Meet the Director of Leadership & Development, Anna Hess!

A four-year MPI veteran, Anna is using her position on the board to bring all members together and ensure the committees and BOD are accessible to MPI-CAC's membership.

1.       How long have you been with MPI-CAC?

I have been a part of MPI for about four years now!

2.       What committees, if any, were you on before joining the board?

I jumped onto the NEXT Committee only two weeks after I had joined MPI and [worked] on the marketing for the event! This was super fun but also somewhat scary as I had no idea what to expect, didn’t know anyone and had very little marketing knowledge. I ended up loving it but decided to try out a new committee the following year. From there, I was a co-chair on the Membership Committee where I ended up taking on a BOD position as the director of membership care! This year I have again decided to try something new, and here I am now as the director of leadership and development.

3.       What is your role on the board?

I am currently serving as the director of leadership and development, and we plan the Leadership Day events and also help members, co-chairs and board members find out how they can better take on leadership roles and get them in position feeling confident for their upcoming roles.

4.       What is one goal for MPI-CAC you have in your position this year?

We would love to make the BOD and committees more accessible to each other and members. We hope to bring these groups together, educate them on what the others are doing and introduce them to people they may have not known before. With COVID, we had a lot of transitions take place as well as a lot of new members join looking for a community to lean on during such a tough time for our industry. We think this will help members feel more comfortable reaching out for help, networking, and just make the community stronger as a whole.

5.       What do you like to do when you’re not working?

When I am not working I LOVE baking, working out, spending time with my adorable pup, exploring new places and now [that it’s] fall, Bears and MN Gopher football is here so bring on the tailgates and Sunday-Fundays!
