COMMITTEE SPOTLIGHT
What do we do? The Holiday Party committee is made up of enthusiastic professionals from various event backgrounds, each bringing their unique skills and experiences to the table. This amazing group of individuals plans a highly anticipated evening of networking with over 250 industry planners and event professionals. But it’s not just about the party—it's also a chance to make a difference. The funds we raise through this event help provide membership grants, academic scholarships, and professional development opportunities for our members. As a 501(c)(3) organization, MPI-CAC ensures every dollar goes directly to supporting our community. Meetings are a lively mix of brainstorming sessions and strategic planning, where ideas flow freely and every member’s input is valued. The team works collaboratively to ensure every detail is perfect—from securing the venue and arranging catering to organizing activities and ensuring a smooth guest experience. The spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose drives the committee, as they come together not only to create a memorable event but also to foster a sense of community and connection among attendees. Through their collective effort, the committee ensures that the Holiday Party is more than just an event; it’s a celebration that leaves a lasting impression on everyone who attends. Want to join? With seven members currently on the committee, we welcome anyone who wants to help—especially in securing donations for the silent auction and recruiting vendors to showcase their services and products at the party! We meet once a month, and we prefer to meet in-person but will adjust to a virtual call if in-person is not possible. After the meeting is done, we emphasize networking and spending quality time with each other. Interested? If so, you can email Erica Koenig (erica@meetingsolutions.us) or Courtenay Lipka (courtenay.lipka@sonesta.com) to learn more! We would love to have you! We hope to see you on December 10 at Navy Pier!
EXPERT ADVICE
Many firms have new staff joining them fresh from college, and while they are quite intelligent, they have limited business experience. You need to create an environment for them to “learn the ropes,” so they can become more valuable very quickly. One of the best ways to help any new staff grow within the organization is to assign a mentor to them.
