How did you first get involved on a committee and what is your favorite MPI story?

Some of my most meaningful MPI CAC memories are centered around our annual Industry Xchange event — a day of education and connection with other Hospitality, Meetings and Events partners.

I attended this event for the first time last year, sitting in the back hardly knowing anyone. This year, I had the pleasure of becoming more involved as a year-long member, Co-Chair for MPI Chicago Area Chapter’s Education Content Committee and Liaison for Marketing Communications and IX. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work more closely with our speakers, the content for our local Chicago events, and inspiring members of MPI CAC. It is such a joy collaborating and making a difference in shaping how our events come to life! Without being involved in the Ed Content Committee among others, I would not have been able to get this up front and center with IX or other MPI CAC members, all of which I am so grateful I have done. I am so grateful for my MPI CAC journey so far and cannot wait to see what’s in store next.

How did you first get involved on a committee?

In April 2023, I made an exciting career transition, moving from the O'Hare hotel market to the JW Marriott Chicago in downtown. My key objective was to deeply engage with the downtown community and foster connections with fellow meeting planners and colleagues. Though I was an MPI member in 2017, my participation was limited. This time, I sought to contribute actively, gain knowledge, and forge meaningful relationships.

My direct involvement started with the MPI-IX 2024 committee. Despite joining later in the planning process, my role as a greeter at IX was a truly positive experience, marked by the warm and enthusiastic attendees. This experience instantly sparked my passion for volunteering.

Since then, I've had the distinct honor of serving on multiple committees across 2024 and 2025. I extend my sincere gratitude to Jennifer Kramer, Aidan Korte, Sharon Ozimek, Erika Johnson, Hannah Thompson, and Sean Thorndike for their exceptional leadership, consistent encouragement, and invaluable guidance. Their mentorship has provided me with significant learning in a short period, and I am incredibly appreciative. MPI-CAC consistently delivers outstanding experiences, growth, and content for its members – plus, it’s fun! I encourage anyone interested in being a part of an extremely collaborative Meeting Planner’s organization to join. It is worth every penny! I eagerly anticipate the continued growth and success of our chapter!
