HARTFORD, CT – In his seventh State of the State address to a joint session of the Connecticut General Assembly, Gov. Ned Lamont’s message was clear: he wants to focus on initiatives that will make the state more affordable while also providing more opportunities for state residents.

“As always, our north stars are affordability and opportunity, holding down costs of energy and healthcare and education, allowing you to keep more of what you earn and providing you the tools to let you earn more, buy a home, start a business,” Lamont said in his opening comments.

Many employers with more than 10 employees are required to keep a record of serious work-related injuries and illnesses. Some health care and home care companies must electronically submit injury and illness reports to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) annually through OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA).  The deadline for submission of the 2024 data is March 2, 2025.

In the January 8, 2025, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Home Health, Hospice, & DME Open Door Forum (ODF), CMS erred in its response to a question about the use of telehealth for the home health face-to-face encounter. Specifically, CMS asserted that telehealth could not be used for the home health face-to-face encounter and that it must be completed in person. This is not correct.

As previously reported, the waiver of the geographic and originating site restrictions allowing for the home health face-to-face encounter to be performed via telehealth in the patient’s home and in any geographic location was extended until March 31, 2025, as part of the American Relief Act 2025. While the fight continues to extend or make permanent this flexibility, and that for hospice, telehealth may be used for the face-to-face encounter at this time. The Alliance has requested CMS make a correction.
