Selecting footwear with appropriate fit in children is challenging due the changes with foot size and dimensions which occur throughout childhood. Access to appropriate footwear is important but recent challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in closure of retail stores for prolonged periods where parents/carers could not physically purchase footwear for their children and the footwear industry suffered disruption to their supply chain, and falls in retail sales.

Kinesiophobia is defined as the limitation of motor activity due to fear of movement. It was originally defined by Kori et al. in 1990, being considered as a weakening, destructive, and irrational fear of movement and activity based on the belief of being vulnerable and susceptible to injury. This fear of movement causes self-defense; hence, patients avoid or limit the movements that require the action of the affected body segment.
