Inspiring adherence to limited weight-bearing restrictions is a challenging and constant frustration for medical providers. Studies have shown up to an 88 percent nonadherence rate with limited weight-bearing restrictions, even after appropriate patient education. The complexities of life including, but not limited to, work, family, and physical capabilities contribute to difficulties in sustaining a limited weight-bearing status for an extended period.

In this presentation, we will look at some of the great paradigms of injury prevention that have underpinned the running shoe industry for more than 40 years: motion control and cushioning. Do these paradigms stand up to scientific scrutiny, and if not, where else should we be looking? Vibration is considered one of the key input signals in running, and yet it is one of the least investigated in the scientific literature.

Lower limb venous disease can cause significant pain, loss of mobility, and can be detrimental to an individual’s quality of life. Manifestations of venous disease often pose a substantially negative impact on patients and place a high demand on finite healthcare resources. Whilst this problem is internationally recognised, most research and discourse has predominantly focussed on treatment of leg ulceration and prevention of recurrence.

Despite numerous treatment modalities, there remains no clear consensus on the optimal surgical approach to mid-substance acute Achilles tendon ruptures (AATR). The purpose of this study is to present two novel minimally invasive surgery (MIS) approaches for AATR and compare their outcomes. Retrospective analysis of two surgeons's AATR patients (N=18) who underwent one of two modified minimally invasive repairs (MMIR).

The Role: The Podiatrist/Chiropodist will help people dealing with a range of mobility issues, relieve pain and treat infections of the feet and lower legs. The Podiatrist/Chiropodist will also be helping patients with a variety of different issues from infants through seniors requiring all types of foot care. The role requires diagnosis of diseases, deformities and injuries of the human foot and communicate diagnoses to patients, treating patients using a variety of medical interventions including Orthotics, Extra Corporeal Shockwave Therapy, Injection Therapy, and other modalities. Provide various Routine Foot Conditions with patients of all ages. May perform surgery on the forefoot and subcutaneous soft tissues of the foot.

- Successful completion of Ontario Chiropody Registration Examinations

Experience
- Mandatory
- 1-3 years of private practice experience as a Chiropodist and/or Podiatrist
- Soft Tissue Surgical competence including cutting into the subcutaneous tissues of the foot within the Ontario scope of practice preferred
-Optional:
- 1 year experience in wound care
- Will be required to become a member of Wound Care Canada
- Will be required to become a member of OPMA Ontario Podiatric Medical Association, OR Ontario Society of Chiropodists,
