The primary indication for posterior muscle group lengthening is in children with spastic conditions, such as cerebral palsy. “In very rare cases, pediatric toe walking may require Achilles tendon lengthening or gastrocnemius recession,” Dr. Jarrod Shapiro says. “However, in my opinion, posterior muscle group lengthening is not indicated for most reconstructive surgery in either children or adults.”

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a slowly evolving articular disease that affects the underlying bone, soft tissue, and synovial fluid. Osteoarthritis typically affects the hands and large weight-bearing joints, such as the hips and knees. Some risk factors for OA include aging, obesity, overuse or abuse of joints, trauma, instability of joints, excessive mobility, and/or immobilization.

The COVID-19 pandemic has directly affected the delivery of health care services in Canada, including foot care. The goal of this descriptive study was to understand the impact of the early COVID-19 pandemic (March 2020 to April 2021) on chiropodists’ and podiatrists’ clinical practices and foot care service delivery in Ontario, Canada.

Dietary intake is a recognised contributor to healing in diabetes-related foot ulceration (DFU). However, it is currently unknown how individuals with DFU perceive their diet, and what is deemed an acceptable dietary intervention. Therefore, the aims of this study were to explore perceptions of diet quality, previous dietary advice, and dietary interventions in individuals with DFU.
