The running shoe has evolved remarkably over the past 150-plus years, and progression in running shoe technology and design continues, with shoe manufacturers striving to produce lighter, faster, more cushioned, and more comfortable running shoes. Notable improvements in running shoe uppers using synthetic fabrics such as nylon make running shoes more light, flexible, and comfortable than their older leather-upper counterparts from a half-century ago.

Untreated lymphedema can play a significant role in chronic wounds. Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), performed by a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) is standard of care for the management of lymphedema of all types, not just advanced disease. A coordinated immune response to illness, in particular, chronic wound healing, depends on the efficient functioning of the arterial, venous, and lymphatic systems.

Ankle arthroplasty, commonly known as ankle replacement, is a surgical procedure for treating end-stage ankle osteoarthritis. Whilst evidence shows good clinical results after surgery, little is known of the long-term survival of ankle replacements and the need for ankle revision. Using more recent implant data and long-term data, there is now opportunity to examine at a population-level the survival rate for ankle implants, to examine between-country differences in ankle revision surgery, and to compare temporal trends in revision rates between countries.

Researching the podiatrists’ lived experience of The Three Great Pathologies may help improve the quality of patient care. The aim of this research using an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis approach is to report on insights relating to the Three Great Pathologies of diabetic foot disease – infection, ischaemia and amputation. Three superordinate themes resulted with subordinate themes. They are compromised health status, podiatric challenges and best outcomes.
