SOURCE: Podiatry Today
I have been an athlete my whole life and always valued how far my feet have taken me; it’s the main reason I felt drawn to the field of podiatric medicine. I took up distance running during podiatry school as a way to manage my stress. As my time began to be more flexible near the end of my residency and my husband and I went into private practice together, I had the desire to focus on my training and see if I could chase down some of the running goals I had for myself.

Treating hard-to-heal wounds can be extremely challenging. Emerging theragnostic technologies entering into the space have the potential to transform how wound care is delivered. Presently, wound care assessment and monitoring is quite subjective and may vary from clinician to clinician. Most commonly, visual inspection and manual measurements are used to assess wound progress.

SOURCE: Journal of Foot and Ankle Research
Studies suggest that a relationship between the medial longitudinal arch of the foot (MLA) and the biomechanical alterations of the lower limb may predispose a person to pain and injuries such as lateral ankle sprain. The height of the MLA can be categorized as high (pes cavus), normal, or flat arch (pes planus) and clinically, the MLA height index has proven to be a robust measure and disfunctions are often associated with foot type. Two studies support the fact that lower MLA flexibility may accompany higher stress in soft-tissue and medial injuries.

Footprint, the Foot Posture Index, the hallux valgus prevalence, foot pain and function in 66 rheumatoid arthritis patients and the association with time since diagnosis, were recorded.
