CFPM Virtual Conference

The Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine did not allow an impediment such as the pandemic prevent it from delivering its annual conference. In fact, approximately 225 delegates, 30 speakers and 25 exhibitors gathered for the very first ever CFPM virtual conference, November 12 to 14, 2020. While it is true that the conference was very much different experience from its predecessors, the quality of the speakers and presentations was not diminished by the virtual format.

Early feedback by delegates suggests that some aspects of virtual events were appreciated, including shorter, tighter sessions and the fact that one could attend from anywhere. The Conference Committee will consider hybrid event options in 2021, which will combine aspects of in-person and virtual events.

This year’s event incorporated gamification as a means to encourage attendee engagement. The first prize winner of a $500 gift card was Helen Rees of New Brunswick. Second prize winner, Dave Simard of Ontario, wins a complimentary registration to the 2021 Annual Conference.

The 2021 Annual Conference is scheduled for November 11 to 13, 2021, at the Hilton Meadowvale Mississauga.
