Meet the Speakers!

Dr. Kevin Kirby  

Dr. Kevin Kirby grew up in Sacramento, went to C.K. McClatchy High School, did his undergraduate degree at UC Davis, and went to podiatric medical school at the California College of Podiatric Medicine (CCPM) in San Francisco. He did his podiatric surgical residency at the Palo Alto Veteran's Hospital and then completed a year of Biomechanics Fellowship training at CCPM where he also received his MS degree. Dr. Kirby has been in podiatry practice in Sacramento since 1985.

In addition to over 32 years of podiatric practice in Sacramento, Dr. Kirby has distinguished himself as one of the leading podiatric authorities in the world in foot and lower extremity biomechanics, foot orthotic therapy and the sports podiatry.

Mike Knapp  

Mike Knapp has spent over 20 years working in the global healthcare industry in both the public and private sector.

Mike has developed a balanced view gaining significant insight about the following: medical device reprocessing, procurement, supply chain management, patient experience mapping, quality improvement planning, marketing  management, marketing research, graphic communication.

 

 

 
  Alejandra Silva

Alejandra Silva has been working with STERIS Canada for 12 years. STERIS is a global leader in infection prevention technologies and contamination control. They manufacture both equipment and products required to operate a Medical Device Reprocessing Department. Alex currently holds the position of Consumable Territory Manager for Western Ontario and Manitoba. She has also complete her CSAO, CSA and IAHCSMM certification.

  Manon LaFlamme

Manon Laflamme began her journey within in the Medical Device Reprocessing business in 1988 as a Reprocessing Technician for the Ottawa Hospital. Since then, she has performed many different roles in the Medical Device Reprocessing world, from Ontario to British Colombia; as a technician, supervisor, coordinator and manager. She partook in the development of the Endoscopy Reprocessing Manual for the Vancouver Island Health authority. She was first certified in 1989 through CSAO (Central Services Association of Ontario) and is also certified through CSA (Canadian Standard Association) & IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management). She has been working with the STERIS team since 2017, as a Clinical Education Specialist, for all of eastern Canada.

Dr. Peter Paicos  

Dr. Peter Paicos is a native of Massachusetts, a second generation Podiatrist (his father retired at the age of 90). He was a graduate of the charter class of Des Moines University, College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 1986. His residency training was completed at West Roxbury VAMC, followed by a clinical Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.  

Following his postgraduate training he founded Affiliates in Foot Care, PC and was the President and CEO from 1990 until May of 2015.  During his clinical practice he achieved Board certification from both the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (1992) and the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (1995). His passion for limb preservation focused his career with hospital based relationship including Associate Medical Director for Winchester Hospital's Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center, a relationship he enjoyed for close to fifteen years. He served as Service Chief of Foot Surgery at Winchester Hospital 2008-2105. Currently he is the Chief Medical Officer for the New Jersey Podiatric Physicians & Surgeons Group, LLC - a twenty group practice with thirty eight physicians. Read more.

Dr. Howard Penn  

Dr. Howard Penn currently practices podiatric medicine and surgery in Buffalo, New York for the past 32 years. He is board certified in foot surgery by the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Shockwave therapy has been a very effective treatment modality in his practice for the past 20 years for a variety of musculoskeletal ailments. Dr. Penn has been using the Electro Medical Swiss Dolorclast system for the past 13 years and received his training in Germany with orthopaedic surgeons for all musculoskeletal indications. He has been a frequent lecturer both nationally and internationally over the past several years sharing his expertise in shockwave therapy as well as training physicians in workshops.
