During CLFP’s Fall Board of Directors Meeting on October 22, the Board of Directors voted to approve a budget that would not include holding an in-person or virtual Food Processing Expo in 2021. Staff shared with the board that the current pandemic situation would make it likely that safety regulations and meeting gathering protocols would prohibit holding a safe and successful Expo.

This year’s Halloween, like every 2020 holiday, will be different; but one that shows how creative and resilient is the food and beverage industry—and especially its candy category. We’ve seen this ingenuity throughout the pandemic and from different categories within the food industry, but what I saw in the weeks leading up to October was special.

More than 80 CLFP processing and affiliate members participated in the 26th Annual Suppliers Host Council Golf Tournament. The event was held on October 19 at the Brookside Golf & Country Club in Stockton. The tournament raises funds for CLFP's Scholarship Program.

Governor Newson recently enacted two executive orders meant to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in California. In late September, the Governor signed an executive order to end the sale of new gas-powered cars and trucks in California by 2035 with the intent to tackle mobile transportation emissions. The Governor said transportation emissions account for more than 50 percent of the state’s greenhouse gas emissions.
