Attendee Registration Opens September 28 for Food Processing Expo 2019

Registration for Food Processing Expo 2019 opens Friday, September 28, while exhibitor registration is currently open. The Expo, the largest event of its kind in California, will be held February 12-13 at the Sacramento Convention Center. The Expo is produced by CLFP, which recently announced its lineup of Expo educational workshops, offering something for everyone in California’s food processing industry.

CLFP Scholarship Program Application Deadline September 21

Applications are now being accepted for CLFP’s 2018-19 Member Scholarship Program. The program is open to all eligible CLFP Processor and Supplier Host Council member employees and their dependents. Golf Tournament Registration Deadline October 4

Registration is open for CLFP’s Fall Board of Directors Meeting to be held Thursday, October 25, at the Hilton in Stockton. The meeting will feature a new one-day format and also will be held for the first time the day before CLFP’s Annual Supplier Host Council Golf Tournament. The meeting is open to all CLFP board of directors members.

USDA Launches Trade Mitigation Programs

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue has launched the trade mitigation package aimed at assisting farmers suffering from damage due to unjustified trade retaliation by foreign nations. Producers of certain commodities can now sign up for the Market Facilitation Program (MFP), while USDA will also begin to purchase identified commodities under a food purchase and distribution program.

New Vendor Training from USDA Web-Based Supply Chain Management

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), Commodity Procurement Program will provide domestic commodity vendors a FREE, live, interactive training webinar for the Web-Based Supply Chain Management (WBSCM) System. Recurring one-hour training sessions will focus on new user administrative activities such as necessary browser settings, how to receive procurement notifications, and creating plants, shipping points, users and other activities. The sessions will also demonstrate the bidding process, including the online and export/import options.

California Legislature Adjourns for the Year
