Attendee registration is now open for Food Processing Expo 2020 to be held February 12-13 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Exhibitor registration is ongoing.
 
 
   
Get your golf clubs ready and your game on for CLFP’s 23rd Annual Supplier Host Council Golf Tournament set for Monday, October 21, in Stockton. The tournament, which raises funds for CLFP’s Scholarship Program, will be held in a new location this year at the Brookside Country Club.

Two guest speakers will make presenations at the Fall Board of Directors Meeting on October 24 at Wine & Roses in Lodi. The speakers are Tom Manzo with the California Business and Industrial Alliance and Nora Sheriff with the Buchalter Law Firm, who is an expert on energy policy and rates.
 
 
   
CLFP co-sponsored a comprehensive energy efficiency workshop on August 8 in Downey with SoCalGas, Southern California Edison and the California Energy Commission. The workshop was attended by over 45 processors, including southern California food processors.

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) and the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) announced that California received a $600,000 grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to help California small businesses boost trade and exports abroad. CDFA and GO-Biz will use the funds as part of the California State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) to help California small businesses participate in activities like foreign trade shows and access foreign markets through trade promotion initiatives.
 
A hectic week for the state Legislature ended with welcome news for California farmers and ranchers—Gov. Gavin Newsom announced he intends to veto Senate Bill 1, which sought to preserve existing California environmental and labor standards from federal changes initiated by the Trump administration.
