State Financial Incentive Programs for Businesses

California offers multiple financial incentive programs and grants for businesses including the following:

California Competes Tax Credit: An income tax credit available to businesses that want to come, stay or grow in California. http://www.business.ca.gov/programs/CaliforniaCompetesTaxCredit

New Employment Credit: The New Employment Credit is an income tax credit available to companies that hire qualified full-time employees within designated geographic areas.

Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Manufacturing: The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration manages a partial exemption of sales and use tax on certain manufacturing and research and development equipment purchases and leases.

California Pollution Control Financing: The California Pollution Control Financing Authority provides tax-exempt bond financing for pollution control projects. The securities pay for acquisition, construction, and installation of qualified pollution control, waste disposal, or waste recovery facilities and equipment.

Hybrid and Zero Emission Truck Incentive Project: Financial incentives of up to half of the cost of the vehicle are available, with additional funds for fleets located in disadvantaged communities.

California Workforce Development Board: The Board serves employment and training needs at no cost to employers.

California Apprenticeship Initiative: The program offers a blend of hands-on and classroom experience to train workers with the necessary skills specific for each industry. The program is administered by the Community College Chancellor’s Office.
