OSHA Delays Record Keeping Rule Electronic Submittal
The Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) initiated a rulemaking in 2016 to expand the list of severe work-related injuries that all employers must report. Under the new reporting requirements, establishments with 20 - 249 employees must electronically submit information from the OSHA Form 300A Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses. Those employers with 250 employees or more are required to electronically submit to OSHA injury and illness information from OSHA Forms 300, 300A and 301.
However, OSHA has indicated that the agency is not accepting electronic submissions of injury and illness logs at this time, and intends to extend the July 1, 2017, date by which certain employers are required to submit the information electronically from their completed 2016 Form 300A. The reporting schedule had required those with 250 or more employees to submit their 2016 Form 300A by July 1, 2017. To obtain updated information consult OSHA's record keeping webpage.
