Ag Production Committee Meets in Monterey

The CLFP Spring Agricultural Production Committee met March 9-10 at the Monterey Tides Hotel in Monterey. A wide variety of speakers were featured at the meeting, including Dennis Donahue, the former mayor of Salinas, who now works with the Westerns Growers' Center for Innovation & Technology. Agriculture is a $9 billion industry in the Salinas Valley.

Other speakers included Christopher Olvera from the California Department of Water Resources who provided an update on the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and Jesse Cuevas, California Department of Pesticide Regulation Deputy Director for Legislation, who discussed "Pesticide Buffer Zones Around Schools."

The CLFP Ag Production Committee meets twice each year in the spring and fall. The meetings are open to all CLFP members. 

The new chairman for the Ag Production Committee is Frank Voelz of the Neil Jones Food Company.
