President's Report

The MDRAO Provincial Board has been busy in the last quarter. With such a great team, we are getting lots done. Our recertification exam is now available in French, and we are currently working at translating the online course in French as well. We will let you know when this is done.

Also, with the updated CSA standard Z314-23 now available, we are currently working on updating our book and workbook to reflect the changes in Z314-23. Our two provincial education directors, Tamiza Samji and Roch Landriault, have taken the lead on this! We will keep you updated.

As warm weather is finally approaching, MDRAO is still working hard to prepare for its 2023 Conference.

I also want to congratulate Theta Chapter for coordinating such a great Education Day in North Bay on the weekend of April 29-30. The event was, as usual, very informative and started off with motivational speaker Meg Soper, followed by Charlene Larabie, Manon Laflamme, Laurie Boyer and John Gosselin.

The Provincial Boar and Executive Director Ryan Acayan are also working hard to prepare for the next MDRAO conference that is scheduled on September 22 to 24. Watch for an email from us with more information and registration information. As you know, we have limited spots available. I encourage you to register as soon as possible to reserve your spot!

Finally, I know that you have all worked hard this year, and I encourage you to take some time to relax and have fun this summer.

We are here to serve you; it is our mission to keep improving the MDRAO.

Regards,
Nathalie Legault RN, CMDRT

Chapter Reports

By Maria Raj (ETA President)

With COVID gradually slowing down, with face masks and social distancing no longer mandatory, it's back to normalcy. Additional workload and staff shortages have been an ongoing problem. Keeping in mind that, COVID or no COVID, it’s our responsibility to keep ourselves safe, using proper handwashing at all times.

I'm looking forward to another successful eventful MDRAO conference on Sept. 22-24, with a new venue and more education.

The next ETA Education Day will be on Sept. 30. The topics will be IPAC, how to improve OR/MDR relationships, Loaners trays, and SPM. The ETA members have increased in number, and they are my inspiration to continue educating them.

We can finally enjoy summer the way we all used to do – BBQ, camping, fishing, and all the activities we’ve missed during COVID.

My gratitude to MDRAO for the continuous support to all its members.

Happy Summer!

The weather is getting warmer, the days longer, and spring will say farewell before you know it; summer is almost here.

Just like the Theta Education Day has passed, and it was a great success.

Meg Soper delivered humor with a heart that left us motivated, uplifted, and raring to go!

Manon Laflamme brought us back to the basics in decontam.

Laurie Boyer spoke on the Dream Team Revisited.

Lastly, a Total Shoulder Arthroplasty workshop with John Gosselin.

There was a draw for two members to attend the MDRAO Conference in September. The winners: Sheila Gallant and Michael Duncan.

Thanks to our sponsors: Steris, 3M, Keir Surgical, Clorox, Surgical Product Specialties and Clorox.

A special thanks to our board members who supported us and attended the Education Day.
