Director of Communications Report

This report provides an overview of communications, engagement activities and a summary of planned activities across the organization.

Still a common issue continues to be COVID-19. At the most recent board of directors meeting on May 26, 2021, our organization made a decision to cancel the 2021 conference scheduled to be held in Toronto. In the fall we will be going virtual to provide members with excellent content and learning opportunities. We will miss seeing you all in-person but hope to see everyone at our conference in 2022 and of course virtually in the upcoming months.

With regards to our virtual conference, we will be looking to our chapter executives to join our Conference Planning Committee. The committee volunteers will help with conference programming, social media advertising, vendor recruitment and playing an important role in making our conference a huge success.

On April 28, 2021, Nathalie (Vice president) and Sara (Director of Communications) attended the 27th ORNAC National Conference virtually. It was a fantastic conference, and we commend the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada for this wonderful opportunity to learn and participate in a well-organized way. Furthermore, Nathalie and Sara were able to learn a great deal about the fundamental principles of organizing a successful virtual conference. ORNAC provided exceptional speakers and had many friendly moments with live attendees. After the live viewing the virtual platform offered a playback option where you can log in and watch the recorded speakers and view virtual pages of the vendors. Truly this was a fantastic conference – Congratulations ORNAC!

ART-CALL-OUT

We are looking to expose our artistic members by inviting you to take part in our upcoming magazine!

ELIGIBILITY: Artists are welcome to submit works in any medium: painting, drawing, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, textile, any mixed media, digital, performance and film (only jpg or a link to video) etc. All visual art mediums are welcome

REQUIRMENTS:

• Submit a PDF that contains the following:
• Contact information - name, email, social media handles, website 
• Captions and descriptions (video links can be embedded as links in the PDF)  
• Artist bio

Selected artists will be asked for high-resolution images and will be published in the next print and digital issue of MDRAO News Magazine. We are looking forward to receiving your submissions. The deadline for submission is June 28, 2021.
