THETA JULY NEWSLETTER 2011

Membership: 2011/2012 CSAO membership form found on CSAO website www.csao.net. Please ask all staff and managers in reprocessing to become CSAO members. Theta chapter will be offering the following incentives to their members for this year:

1. Register by September 20th 2011 and you will receive from the CSAO executive during CS week a token of our appreciation sent to your facility to be presented during CS week.

2. Be a CSAO Theta chapter 2011/2012 member, attend 2 of the 3 OTN education sessions and meetings held Sept., Nov., and Feb. planned below and your name will go into a draw to win 1 of 3 registration fees for the recertification program from the CSAO.  The draw will take place April 2012 and the winner must then complete the 2012-2013 recertification application and Theta Chapter  CSAO will submit the form and check to CSAO office. 

3. Be a 2011/2012 CSAO Theta member, attend 2 of the 3 OTN sessions (Sept., Nov., & Feb), work as a MDRD Technician and have your name entered in a draw to attend the provincial CSAO conference in September 2012.  This year, winners will receive up to $1000 to cover expenses associated with attending the conference.  This includes: registration, hotel, gas and meals. To qualify, the winners must attend conference provide receipts for expenses. Draw to take place in April 2012.

4. If you take the classroom or recertification CSAO program you become eligible for the Steris and 3-M awards which are presented at the provincial conference.

Dates and Locations May 2012: All application forms may be found at our website:  www.csao.net starting June 1st 2011  Location:  The Theta chapter CSAO certification classroom course will be held by Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) with host site location in Timmins, along with OTN remote site locations: Thunder Bay, North Bay, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie  
Dates: May 9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th 2012 Registration Deadline: March 9th, 2012

 September 7, 2011 - Instrument Maintenance & Repair Program - presented by Southmedic/Spectrum
November  2, 2011 - Stress in MDRD – presented by Michelle Bellefeuille, RN CMDRT
February 8, 2012 - What Your Vendors and Companies Can do for Your MDRD – presented by Marta McBurney, 3-M
 April 11, 2012 - Packaging Materials in an MDRD – presented by Michelle Richardson Medline

Important: Please email Nancy Aelick at naelick@sjgh.ca with your OTN site number and system number and book the room for the four sessions by August 20th 2011 to be registered for this education. We have limited sites so register early.

Recertification 2011/2012 Form posted at www.csao.net. Cost reduced $300. Plus HST.
You may recertify any time between June 1st 2011 and Feb 15th 2012. Once you register you have 3 months to study and complete the exam from the postmark of the package you receive. Make sure you register before your certificate expires. All staff and managers must have a current certificate as any certificate is only valid for 5 years.

THETA Chapter May 14th Education Day
This was a huge success with 25 delicates attending. Great opportunity for networking,
education and discussion.  We wish to thank all the vendors and in particular the following who donated to the conference;

FalconFire provided beverages for our Hospitality Suite
Getinge provided draw items
 Kier Surgical provided a speaker
 Primed Canada provided a draw item
SciCan provided food and beverages for our Hospitality Suite
Steris provided a speaker and tote bags for each delegate
Draw winners were Shirley Ducsharm –Kirkland Lake, Marjolaine Donivan-Chapleau,
Grace Parkhouse-Listowel, Michele Bellows- Perth and Smith Falls, Brenda Snell,
Gail –Kempville, Alicia LeBlanc, Jeff Phelps –North Bay, Nicole Robinson-Sturgeon Falls, Wendy Glousher - Prescott, and Chantal Edmunds - Sturgeon Falls.
Discussion occurred regarding the education day and topics for 2011-2012 Meetings. Due to limited delegate registration, the education day will be offered every two years.  Evaluations were very positive on all speakers and the day. The next education day is planned for April or May 2013. Site is yet to be determined but Sudbury is being considered. Topics will be discussed for this day at our February and April meetings 2012.
