Volunteer needed for engineering oral history project

The Canadian Dam Association is seeking a volunteer to serve on a steering committee for the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC). The EIC is working on a project to preserve engineering achievements through oral history interviews.

The EIC will hire an intern to conduct oral history interviews with long-serving engineers. The goal is to capture and preserve the stories behind key engineering achievements in Canada.

The CDA volunteer representative for the Oral History Interview Project will provide the dam community’s input on engineering projects whose stories should be captured. Applicants should be knowledgeable about the history of dam engineering in Canada and be able to help identify key individuals who could be interviewed by the intern.

The Steering Committee will meet virtually; no travel is anticipated. Four to six meetings over the next year and follow-up between meetings, is the expected time commitment. CDA will cover minor communications costs as necessary.

If you are interested in this role or can recommend someone who you think might be interested, please contact CDA Executive Director Don Butcher at executive.director@cda.ca or +1 (416) 255-7076 at your earliest opportunity.

The Canadian Dam Association is a member society of the Engineering Institute of Canada.
