Vincent Castonguay of the University of Laval and the University of Manitoba’s Kevin Sagan have been awarded the Canadian Dam Association’s scholarships for 2015.

M. Castonguay received the CDA-Gary Salmon Memorial Scholarship. His current work is on using numerical modeling to evaluate permanent deformations in embankment dams after seismic events.

Mr. Sagan received the CDA Research Scholarship for his work on the evaluation of probable maximum flood scenarios under climate change in northern Manitoba.

CDA offers annually two scholarships to full-time post-graduate students attending a Canadian university or college whose program of study focuses on dam safety and/or the management of dams. The $5,000 CDA–Gary Salmon Memorial Scholarship was established in 2009 in honour of the late Gary Salmon, P. Eng. and is awarded to the top-ranked applicant. The CDA Research Scholarship, valued at $2,500, was established in 2012 and is awarded to the second-ranked applicant.
