Report on Emergency Management for Dams Workshop released
The CDA Working Group on Emergency Management has released the final report of the content and findings of the Canadian Dam Association (CDA) Workshop on Emergency Management held in Ottawa on Feb. 24-25, 2015. The workshop was organized by CDA’s Working Group on Emergency Management under the oversight of the Dam Safety Committee.
Sixty-five participants from across Canada gathered to consider the needs of the Canadian dam industry for emergency planning and management related to both conventional water-retaining dams and mine tailings dams. A broad cross-section of representatives of dam owners, operators, regulatory bodies, provincial and federal government agencies, consultants and emergency management specialists discussed the state-of-practice for dams in Canada.
The Working Group has produced a summary report on the Workshop for distribution to the membership. It is available from the CDA website. The presentations are available to CDA members only via the Emergency Management page of the Members Section of the CDA website (sign in before clicking on link).
