Given the number of and significance of mining related dams in Canada, a Regulation of Mining Dams Sub Committee was created in 2021 with the support of the CDA Board, as part of the CDA’s broader regulation of dams committee framework. The Sub Committee has been active over the past year under the leadership of Chair, Rob Schryburt.

A key objective of the Sub Committee is to work toward regulatory staff representation from all federal, provincial and territorial agencies across Canada. The Sub Committee is eagerly seeking representation from Quebec, Manitoba, New Brunswick as well as key federal agencies. If CDA members have suggestions for representation from these provincial or federal agencies, or if regulatory staff from these provincial or federal agencies are interested in volunteering, please follow up directly with either Sub Committee Chair, Rob Schryburt or CDA Technical Coordinator, Ken Cain.
