You will lead and develop the Dam Safety team of 9 professionals who are primarily responsible for the administration of Water Act, Water (Ministerial) Regulation-Part 6 and Alberta Dam and Canal Safety Directive pertaining to dam and canal safety regulatory framework. Your team’s primary responsibility includes regulating the dams and canals and monitoring compliance for risk management/mitigation to factors at risk including public, property and environment due to potential failure of the structures. The team is also responsible for providing technical services to regional operations teams regarding safety management of dam and canal infrastructure owned by the Department and operated and maintained by the Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB).
