Coal Utilization Research Council (CURC)
Shannon Angielski, Executive Director
Douglas Carter, Independent Contractor & former Director, Office of Planning and Environmental Analysis, Office of Fossil Energy, DOE

Thursday, May 19, 2016 ~ 2-3 pm Eastern

In the aftermath of the195 nations meeting at the Conference of the Paris last December, how does the global status of CO2 Capture Use/Storage (CCUS) technology development support new carbon policies that may be put in place around the world – or does it? With worldwide coal demand already increasing to almost 8 billion tons in 2014 and the expectation of further growth, is there a coalescing of commitment to achieve broad deployment of CCUS worldwide as a cost-effective decarbonization strategy? What are the prospects and what will stimulate timely, effective international development?

Join us as Shannon Angielski and Doug Carter discuss the new global CCUS study completed by the Coal Utilization Research Council in concert with Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Development Organization (NEDO). They will address:
• Lessons learned from successful and unsuccessful CCUS projects around the world
• Government support and financial incentives
• Perspectives from the private sector
• Options for multinational collaboration and next steps
