Jonathan Sherman to replace Shannon Doka as Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Common Ground Alliance (SCGA) effective June 9, 2025
Norman Krogstad, President of the Saskatchewan Common Ground Alliance (SCGA) along with the Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Sherman as the new Executive Director for the SCGA.
Jonathan Sherman has been selected as executive director for the organization. Jonathan has worked in the health, safety and training field for over fifteen years in various industries including construction, mining, manufacturing, post-secondary and government. He is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) and holds a BSc and a master's degree from the University of Saskatchewan. Jonathan is based out of Saskatoon.
The SCGA was established in 2007 as a member-driven, not-for-profit organization. The SCGA is dedicated to ensuring worker and public safety, environmental protection, and the integrity of services by promoting effective damage prevention practices related to underground and overhead infrastructure activities. Excavation activities - both large and small - result in thousands of damaged buried wires, cables, and pipelines each year, costing Canadians up to $1 billion annually. To address this, the SCGA promotes "Dig Safe" and "Click Before You Dig" in Saskatchewan, encouraging the use of our Sask 1st Call notification service.
Please join us in welcoming Jonathan to the SCGA. We look forward to his expertise in our goal to grow the membership, enhance awareness and education of best practices, and to strengthen our ties to the digging community.
To Shannon Doka we appreciate her leadership, professionalism and energy in the role that has seen our membership grow, SCGA's purchase of Sask 1st Call complete and, of course, our highly successful Dig Safe month breakfasts these past six years, and we wish her happiness and health in retirement. If you watch up-and-coming players in the hockey world, watch out for the name Doka, we know Shannon is!
