Risk management is everyone’s job as each of us manages various professional and personal risks in our lives every day. Risk Management at the college must be supported from the top down through Presidential support/directives, college policies, and financial support. All employees should receive appropriate level training for their area of responsibility in identifying risks, evaluating the criticality of identified risks, and to whom they should report risk concerns.

Student Success: Changing the Game! I am so excited about our upcoming annual conference in Las Vegas. We will be launching our new brand and website and mixing things up with some new sessions and activities. We have some wonderful general session speakers lined up as well as break-out sessions to help us learn how we can contribute to improving student success at our campuses.

Kicking off our conference on Sunday will be Dr. Rufus Glasper, President of Maricopa Community College. Dr. Glasper is a visionary leader who focuses on student success and has a very inclusive and engaging style. He is also a former business officer.

On May 12, 2015, NACAS announced that they will begin the search for a CEO. CCBO is managed by NACAS, the National Association of College Auxiliary Services, and since its management relationship began in 2001 the NACAS CEO has served as the CCBO Executive Director. Increasing expectations and decreasing resources are forcing higher education institutions to learn how to do more with less. Across the nation, schools are being called upon to improve completion rates despite disappearing resources. They're required to expand IT services despite shrinking budgets. They're expected not to just survive these hard times, but to thrive in spite of them. Faculty and staff are working harder and taking on broader responsibilities, but the expectations, it seems, are beginning to outpace reality. As a result, institutions are realizing that if they want to remain competitive, they can't just work harder, they must work smarter.
