CSAE Association Agenda
CSAE News

CSAE’s virtual conference is like no other – as those of you who have already begun participating in the Association Think Tanks know. And, while we are unable to gather in Halifax as originally planned, there’s an outstanding program in store for you November 2-5, 2020!

The highly interactive, flexible program includes the concurrent sessions and keynotes you’ve come to expect from CSAE’s annual conference. There’s a whole lot more too – like facilitated discussions, informal chats, ask-the-expert sessions and fun networking opportunities. Learn, engage and interact with your peers across the country. Take a look at the flexible schedule, which allows you to pick and choose sessions most critical to you. Whatever your time zone, you’ll find lots of value!

And – don’t forget, the rest of the conference outside of this dedicated week has already begun – and continues through December. This includes:

  • Monthly Association Think Tanks (for a taste, click here)
  • Solutions Café (September 30, 1 pm ET) & other networking and learning opportunities
  • Virtual Exhibit Hall

Learn more and register here.

During these turbulent times, new opportunities and ideas have been tested – with some great results.

Join in the Solutions Café, where leaders of associations and affiliated businesses share successes they have had (or seen) and explore what’s behind those wins. Learn from and expand on the success stories using Appreciative Inquiry in an interactive virtual program format – and walk away inspired! You’ll also get to experience the powerful REMO platform – an effective tool that leaves Zoom in the dust! Facilitated by Ravi Tangri.

Membership Spotlight

CSAE member since 1992
My entire business career prior to working in the association sector was based on relationships. If I worked for a senior business leader I watched, listened and learned from them. I learned how and how not to succeed. At CSAE, I continued this practice by learning from the best. I pursued mentorships and friendships with leaders who succeeded and those who sometimes did not and were willing to honestly share. That was real and relatable and a big part of mentorship for me. It gave me confidence to rely on my own sense of discernment. I believe achieving the CAE® designation was a stepping-stone and catalyst to a very fulfilling career in the not-for-profit sector. It has given me the confidence that I am on the right track in my work and in my life and competencies to rely on.

For associations positioned to weather the storm of the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic, many are finding themselves with a bit of breathing room in terms of immediate cash flow and financial viability issues. Inevitably, many of those that were without a sufficient financial cushion or access to government supports have not fared so well.

The August edition of the Association Pulse provides the latest critical data and insights into the financial impact of COVID 19 on associations. It is based on a survey completed by 279 Canadian associations and other not-for-profits between July 22 and July 30, 2020.

Given the current turbulence due to the global pandemic, it is a critical time for the association sector to come together. To support our members, CSAE is offering the option to pay membership dues in monthly installments. To take advantage of this payment plan, please reach out to Janice Chong, Membership Coordinator – janice@csae.com to enroll.
