Membership Spotlight

Member since 2019

As director of business development with the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of BC & the Yukon, I oversee professional development, our annual conference, as well as corporate and strategic partnerships. CSAE has provided me with many opportunities to learn from others. It’s such a unique industry that we are in and CSAE has so many knowledgeable members that this kind of peer support and advice are invaluable when investigating a possible new initiative or leveraging a new opportunity. The Associations Connect forum has saved me time and energy by connecting me to others who have already wrestled with challenges I am facing. The CSAE Governance Forum held last year was informative and provided excellent takeaways that I expect to use for years to come.

Excerpt: “Individuals and organizations have been settling into a new working environment in culture which a culture of continuous improvement prevails. This new culture comes with an attitude of “what can be improved so we can be more efficient and effective?” Organizations which fine-tune their efforts and benefit from improvement results are starting to stand out from the rest of the pack.”

Excerpt: “By taking on the responsibility to govern, board members must assume the role of visionaries. As the organization’s trustees, they must be in touch with the needs of those they serve, keep abreast of internal and external changes that may have an impact on the way the organization conducts business, and have the confidence and leadership skills that allow them to do just that. Governing isn’t easy.”
